• Making sure health professionals are as informed about prostate cancer as possible.
  
  
• Helping to set up prostate cancer support & advocacy groups.
  
  
• Supporting research into improving treatment and finding a cure.

Prostate Cancer Facts:

1. Prostate cancer is the leading cancer amongst men in South Africa. 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lives.
   
   
2. Men are more aware of breast cancer than prostate cancer.
   
   
3. Prostate cancer is treatable - If prostate cancer is detected early, the chances of survival are exceptionally high.
   
   
4. There are usually no symptoms during the early stages of prostate cancer, which is why testing is so important.
   
   
5. The two tests commonly used to check for prostate problems are the PSA (prostate specific antigen) blood test and DRE (digital rectal examination).

Early stage prostate cancer is much easier to treat, but often shows no symptoms at all. So to detect it early, men need to go for regular testing.
